Dior in Drawings

If you are in London town this holiday season, feast your eyes on the fabulous ‘Dior Illustrated: Rene Gruau and the Line of Beauty’ art collection in lovely Somerset House on the River Thames.  The exhibit showcases the work of the late Rene Gruau, one of the most famous fashion illustrators who captured the essence of the Dior brand beautifully.  In fact, he was responsible for creating the marketing campaign for Dior’s first perfume in 1947, Miss Dior.  The exhibit runs until January 9th, 2011 and includes Gruau’s original illustrations, vintage perfume bottles as well as a selection of Dior Haute Couture gowns including a special dress designed by John Galliano himself, in homage to Gruau.

  1. The first image is very Toulouse-Lautrec!

  2. Hi Marissa, thanks for stopping by. It seems a parallel spirit underlies the work of both artists especially with the posters related to Moulin Rouge : )
