“I had full creative control,” says Jessica in a recent Marie Claire interview. “But Rachel really stressed that whatever I made should be something I’d want to see my friends in.” Jessica’s friends must be undeniably cool.

The handsome French actor Gaspard Ulliel (who came on the American scene in Hannibal Rising) stars in the ad film for CHANEL’s latest men’s fragrance, BLEU DE CHANEL. It’s directed by the brilliant Martin Scorsese who cleverly selected the Rolling Stones song “She Said Yeah” as the soundtrack for his short and gritty masterpiece.
“Martin Scorsese is a director whom I’ve admired for a long time,” says Gaspard Ulliel. “I see him as one of the greatmasters of contemporary filmmaking. Throughout the five days of work, he overflowed with energy and enthusiasm and achieved something that truly stands out from other fragrance commercials.”
The woodsy BLEU DE CHANEL fragrance was created by CHANEL Master Perfumer Jacques Polge and contains notes of citrus, peppermint, pink peppercorn, nutmeg, ginger, jasmine, cedar, vetiver, patchouli, labdanum and frankincense.
Wearing BLEU might encourage the modern man to ‘be unexpected’ like Gaspard Ulliel in the film. How intriguing!
The first international Istanbul Fashion Week ended yesterday with a multitude of celebs in attendance. Sex and the City costume designer Patricia Field, Anna Kournikova and supermodels like Alessandra Ambrosio and Alek Wek were seen in the front row. Turkey is hoping to bring Istanbul to the forefront of fashion. And why not? Istanbul is a city rich with gorgeous textiles and young designers ready to make their mark in the fashion world.
I was there only last summer wandering the Grand Bazaar, sipping Turkish tea at the Aruna Cafe underneath the Galata Bridge and wandering the gardens of various mosques and palaces. But it already feels like ages ago and I’m longing for another visit to this magical city. If you are planning to go anytime soon, check out the New York Times 36 Hours in Istanbul.

Stylish moms can let their stylish tots pick out preppy back-to-school fashions from Ralph Lauren’s The RL Gang: A Fantastically Amazing School Adventure. The virtual storybook is narrated by Harry Connick Jr. and includes a cast of eight cutie-patuties with fashionable names such as Willow, Jasper and River to name a few.
The pint-sized gentlemen are sporting preppy polos and rugbys with fleece hoodies and weathered denim. The little ladies look darling in their cable-knit sweaters and plaid tartan dresses paired with lace-embellished leggings.
Back-to-school is looking good!

Although I’m basking in the last bit of summer and sad to see the days getting shorter, I am also secretly anticipating the arrival of autumn which brings forth a burst of color and beautiful Fall fashions. Other than my own neighborhood, my favorite place to watch the magical transformation of landscape is Central Park, New York. In the spirit of the oncoming season, here’s a peek at Michael Kors‘ Fall 2010 Central Park-inspired photo shoot with the dreamy duo Noah Mills and Carmen Kass, shot by Mario Testino.
