No amount of rain could have stopped VIP guests from attending the invite-only Louis Vuitton Maison opening party last night in Vancouver. The celebrities and journalists probably didn’t even notice each other’s soppy hair while basking in the lap of 10,000 square feet of LV luxury.
The Louis Vuitton Maison store situated in the Hotel Vancouver is the first of its kind in Canada and there are only eleven Maison stores around the globe. According to Jean-Philippe Hecquet, vice-president at Louis Vuitton Canada, Vancouver was a natural choice for Canada’s first LV Maison. “It’s a very dynamic city with a strong image and character, and its own personality. It represents a truly diverse, sophisticated cultural centre, one which we knew would be extremely receptive to the very highest level of Louis Vuitton creativity,” he said.
The LV Maison Vancouver houses ready-to-wear, shoes, watches, jewelery and of course, LV luggage including a trunk for $35,000. There is a dramatic two-storey wall of handbags and original Canadian artwork by Vancouver artist Steven Shearer.

The young Colette, an uber-chic department store on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris loves Hudson’s Bay, the iconic Canadian department store steeped in 340 years of history. If you are in London town this holiday season, feast your eyes on the fabulous ‘Dior Illustrated: Rene Gruau and the Line of Beauty’ art collection in lovely Somerset House on the River Thames. The exhibit showcases the work of the late Rene Gruau, one of the most famous fashion illustrators who captured the essence of the Dior brand beautifully. In fact, he was responsible for creating the marketing campaign for Dior’s first perfume in 1947, Miss Dior. The exhibit runs until January 9th, 2011 and includes Gruau’s original illustrations, vintage perfume bottles as well as a selection of Dior Haute Couture gowns including a special dress designed by John Galliano himself, in homage to Gruau.
